Full Ice Scrimmage!

Posted <2026-05-25 Mon 22:22> by Aaron S. Jackson.

Last night I went to my first full ice scrimmage. This is basically a mini game of ice hockey. We were doing 4v4 with no netminders. After the "Skate Hockey" lessons there's always a 20-30 minute "Play Hockey" session which is a similar setup, but only on a third of the ice.

Having the full ice was extremely fun, but also very exhausting. Learning to play hockey is a very humbling experience. It's nice to be really bad at something so fun. I feel like I am learning and also (slowly) improving my fitness.

I had a bit of an audience too! A few people from the hackspace came to watch (and cheer me on a little), which was very nice of them. I'm sure it was probably entertaining, but not in the same way as watching good hockey. Watching people fall over is always funny when they're not being hurt.

Shane kindly took some photos too, which I'll dump here!

Also, I'm really not sure how my tape got messed up so badly…
